Class Descriptions

NOTE: Vinyasa yoga is a more active style of yoga then Hatha, so a Vinyasa 1 class may be more physically challenging then a Hatha class of the same level.

GENTLE HATHA
Slow down and take time to gently stretch tired legs, open tight hips and release tension in your back, neck and shoulders. Take a deep breath and exhale to release tension and stress. A class for beginners. or those who want or need a more gentle, slow-moving Hatha class. Gentle/Beginners

HATHA 1
A gentle class in which we explore mindful movement and breathing. Suitable for newcomers to yoga as well as more experienced practitioners wishing to move at their own pace. Classes will introduce basic yoga postures, exploring modifications and variations so that students can practice in a way that is safe and useful. Beginners/All levels

HATHA 1-2
Hatha yoga in the tradition of Vanda Scaravelli. We work with grounding and breathing to free the spine. This is a gentle yet dynamic way of working; developing strength and flexibility while learning to consciously balance effort and rest. Intermediate

HATHA YOGA AND MEDITATION
A class in which physical practice (hatha), is combined with an exploration of pranayama (breathing practice) mudras (hand gestures) and meditation. Beginner/Intermediate

VINYASA YOGA
For those who like a more active practice, Vinyasa yoga connects breath and movement in a more flowing and challenging style. Connected yoga postures, usually sun salutations, linked by the breath. Level 1 – Beginner/Intermediate, Level 1-2 – Intermediate

RESTORATIVE VINYASA FLOW
In this class we start out slowly in a few relaxing restorative poses, gradually adding movement until we are flowing through sun salutations. We end by slowing things down again; opening into deep, restorative poses. This unique blend of different styles allows for a relaxing, invigorating class that is popular with students at every level. Level 1

GENTLE VINYASA FLOW
A class that is paced to suit those who are new to Vinyasa yoga. Build strength and stamina as you slowly and mindfully work your way through the Vinyasa flow. Level 1

KRIPALU YOGA FOR AGES 50+
Kripalu Yoga is slow and gentle and brings together all parts of our selves – physical, emotional and spiritual. It cultivates the body’s capacity to relax and dramatically reduces the negative effects of stress. With regular yoga practice, we breathe better, we sleep better, we digest our food better and we feel better. We may even begin to recover from chronic illness.
And, for those who are growing older, the best part is that none of these outcomes requires long years of training. The benefits of practice are immediate and at the same time, long-lasting. These classes will combine warm ups and gentle poses, as well as restorative postures. All levels

RESTORATIVE YOGA
With the aid of props such as blankets, bolsters, or the wall, we practice slowly and mindfully, restoring movement and flexibility to stiff joints, aching backs and tight necks and shoulders.
This is a meditative and restful practice that helps to restore fullness and fluidity to the breath and quiet to the mind and nervous system. This class is for everyone, and an especially good place to start if you are recovering from illness or injury. Gentle/Beginners/All levels

FLOW YOGA
Travel through the Chakras, uniting asana and breath. Explore your body and still your mind. Discover your individual edge without expectation, enjoy slowing down and learn to listen in. Flow yoga oxygenates the blood stream and promotes glandular health. Enjoy connecting breath and movement, class always ends with a long and nourishing Savasana. All levels
